LINCOLN, Neb. (June 2, 2011) €“ The Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour visited Lincoln (Neb.) Airpark on Memorial Day weekend, an event that was unique in it€™s own right but also served as a preview for this fall€™s Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships. While not all of this fall€™s contenders were in attendance, it€™s a safe bet that a large majority of the 340 competitors who took to the tarmac on Memorial Day will return. This weekend€™s course, hosted by the Nebraska Region SCCA, was a long course featuring four slalom runs, providing ample opportunities for drivers to make mistakes. In the end, those who made clean, error-free runs were the drivers who prevailed. Longer runs on the course stretched victory margins wider than a typical Solo Tour event, but almost all of them remained within a blink of an eye. B Modified was one of those tight classes, with Clemens Burger, of Noblesville, Ind., topping Brianne Corn by 0.232-second. Both Burger€™s 1976 LeGrand Mk18 and Corn€™s 1997 LeGrand Dragon turned total times faster than the A Modified class, with Corn setting the fastest time on the first day and Berger returning the favor for a comeback win on Monday. F Street Prepared was a battle between experienced Soloists, with Ron Williams, from Topeka, Kan., taking the victory. Williams was dialing in a new car, a 1993 Honda Civic, and took a Sunday lead over defending National Champion Jinx Jordan. Williams had penalties on his first two Monday runs, handing the lead to Jordan€™s 1993 SoloPro Driving School/Hoosier Honda Civic, but Williams€™ final run moved him back to a 1.450-second win. H Stock was a tight battle between a pair of Mini Coopers for the win, with Philadelphia€™s Jeff Jacobs earning a win in his 2008 MiniMainLine.com/Helix Mini S Mini Cooper. Jacobs just nabbed the win from Greg Reno, of Lawrence, Kan., driving his 2010 Mini USA/Baron BMW/Hoosier Mini Cooper. The Super Street Modified Ladies class was the tightest class of cars during the weekend, with the top two separated by just 0.120-second. Lorien Feigner, from Howell, Mich., drove her 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP pastSue Eckles 1994 Mazda Miata for the narrow class win. The Formula 125 class was even closer than that. Jared Langenfeld, from Wellsville, Kan., just bested teammate Shawn Hill by 0.041-second, with the two drivers sharing a 2002 Top Kart. The Lincoln National Tour was the first time that the Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo and the Tire Rack National Tour had run together on a weekend. The ProSolo event took place on Friday and Saturday, with a large percentage of participants staying for Sunday and Monday€™s National Tour event. The Tire Rack Solo National Tour continues this weekend with the Delaware National Tour at Dover International Speedway, just outside the gates of the Monster Mile, June 4 €“ 5.
