BAYTOWN, Texas (March 22, 2011) €“ Just one week removed from the season opener in Georgia, the Tire Rack® SCCA Solo National Tour moved to Royal Purple Raceway, just outside of Houston, for Round Two of the season at the Tire Rack SCCA Houston National Tour. Competition was fierce in every class amongst the nearly 170 competitors in the field throughout the weekend, where the best two times from a total of six runs for each driver set the results. In B Stock, Jadrice Toussaint, from Charlotte, N.C., piloted his 2008 Capital City OBGYN/Team FF Honda S2000 to a big 1.180-second win, but the battle for second was outstanding. At the end, cone trouble dropped Matthew Glagola, of Atlanta, Ga., from contention to sixth-place in his 2000 Honda S2000 and left Toussaint€™s teammate, Michael Kuhn of Charlotte, sitting second in class. The lead in Street Touring R, the largest class of the weekend, swapped several times throughout the weekend and ended with the top three positions covered by less than 0.3-second. Standing tall on Sunday afternoon was Dan Pedroza, from Round Rock, Texas, in a 2007 Automotive Specialist Mazda MX-5. Robert Irish, of Austin, Texas, finished 0.157-second back in his 2006 COBB Tuning Honda S2000, followed by Pedroza€™s teammate Jason Minehart, also from Austin. Defending Super Street Modified National Champion Erik Strelnieks, of Cedar Park, Texas, survived a bit of a scare in his 1993 Jungle Cat Racing/Hoosier/JC Aut Mazda RX-7 before claiming the class win in Houston. San Antonio€™s Peter LeBlanc challenged both Strelnieks and the conventional wisdom that the RX-7 is the car to have in SSM, finishing second in his 2001 Texas911motorsports.com Porsche Boxster S. 2010 STX Tire Rack ProSolo National Champion James Wilson entered his hometown National Tour event with a new car for 2011, a 2011 Gillman Subaru Southwest/LCMS Subaru WRX and left with a narrow 0.084-second D Stock win over Denver€™s Mark Smith. Smith just missed the class win in his 2008 3Zero3 Motorsports/Ska Brewing Audi TT. The fastest time of the Houston National Tour belonged to Brianne Corn, who turned a fast lap of 34.460 seconds on the way to a B Modified win in a 1997 Janco/Hoosier Le Grand Dragon. The Tire Rack Solo National Tour returns to action at Qualcomm Stadium for the San Diego National Tour, April 1-2.
