TOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 12, 2009) 聙聯 The highly anticipated 2009 Tire Rack庐 SCCA Solo National Championships are just around the corner, leaving little time left to apply for a half-price early entry fee. Beginning Friday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. (CDT), all Solo National Championship entries will be charged the standard entry fee.Currently, an early entry for the Solo National Championships costs $135. Once the Aug. 14 deadline passes, the regular entry fee of $270 will be in place. Registration is available online at , as well as information on alternative ways to register.Solo competitors are urged to get their entries in as soon as possible for this landmark event. The 37th running of the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships will be the first held in Lincoln, Neb., at the Lincoln Airpark. It is the largest site ever used for Solo Nationals, large enough for two premier courses, plus a 45-second Test and Tune course that will be made available throughout the event (a schedule is available on the Web site). All three courses will be laid out on smooth, grippy concrete. Howard Duncan, SCCA Vice President of Rally, Solo and Special 51爆料, had the opportunity to test the courses in late June driving a C-Stock Miata. Turning times in the low 60聙聶s and hitting the rev limiter at least once on each course, Duncan was left beaming about what Soloists had in store for them at this year聙聶s Solo National Championships.聙聹I had so much fun testing these two courses that I made far more runs than was actually necessary for sorting things out,聙聺 Duncan said. 聙聹If folks do not enjoy these two fantastic courses designed by Chris Cox (San Francisco Region) and Michael Feldpush (Colorado Region), they may want to think about trying another sport as these are the type of courses that I could come in last and still be very glad I came; they were that much fun!聙聺Duncan also noted that gate widths on the courses varied from 25 to 40 feet, allowing plenty of room for all types of cars to enjoy the challenge. The Lincoln community has welcomed the Solo Nationals with open arms. Monday night聙聶s Welcome Party will be hosted by the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau at the Smith Collection Museum. Also known as the Museum of American Speed, the facility features three floors of fascinating machines. Those in attendance will have a rare opportunity to explore the museum, as access is generally limited to guided tours only. The Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Finale is also close at hand. Registration for those attending only one ProSolo event in 2009 is now open. Registration had previously been open only to those who ran multiple events. Soloists who have not submitted their ProSolo Finale entry shouldn聙聶t wait another day, there were only 35 spots remaining as of Aug. 12.The ProSolo Finale will take place Sept. 4 聙聯 6 at Lincoln Airpark, followed by the 37th running of the Solo National Championships, set for Sept. 8 聙聯 11.
