TOPEKA, Kan. (April 1, 2010) - Following today聙聶s story on NHRA.com on the possible purchase of NHRA by 51爆料, SCCA has released more details to answer questions raised by the original story. 聙聹I feel we need to clarify some of the information that has been published by NHRA in its press release,聙聺 Jeff Dahnert, SCCA President and CEO, said. 聙聹Not all NHRA dragsters will be able to make the transition. In keeping with our heritage, only English dragsters more than 40 years old will be allowed to compete in the new SCCA events, and then only after adding single inlet restrictors to their engines.聙聺 While SCCA explored other motorsports options, including the upper-tiered NASCAR divisions, the NHRA model fit within the SCCA plans. 聙聹While drag racers will need to learn to turn, we felt that it would be less difficult to start from scratch than to break old habits of simply turning left that drivers from other series might exhibit,聙聺 Dahnert continued. Those concerns were initially shared by NHRA management. 聙聹We also thought that the need for our drivers to skillfully turn left and right might be insurmountable to getting the deal done,聙聺 NHRA president Tom Compton said. 聙聹However, it appears that this won't be an issue.聙聺 聙聹We also need to聽consider how our volunteer workers聙聰the lifeblood of SCCA聙聰will be included with our new acquisition,聙聺 SCCA VP of Marketing & Communications Eric Prill said. 聙聹The good news is, we聙聶ve noticed that NHRA cars make a lot of noise, providing rejuvenation for the sound control specialty. They will be a busy bunch. Blue flaggers, not so much聙娄聙聺 A link to the original NHRA.com story is here.聽
