NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2008) – When the temperatures begin to drop, the days get shorter and the leaves turn orange, it’s time for the SCCA RallyCross National Championship. In its second year, the RallyCross National Championship has moved to Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn., with a Test N Tune kicking things off on Friday, Oct. 24, followed by two days of dirt-slinging competition, Oct. 25 – 26. The field for this year’s RallyCross National Championship has grown substantially, with nearly 70 competitors entered. The success of last year’s event and a change in venue have brought out some of the best RallyCrossers in the land, including, five defending Champions: Jeff Parker (Rally Stock Front-Wheel Drive), Jayson Woodruff (Rally Stock Rear-Wheel Drive), Brent Blakely (Rally Stock All-Wheel Drive), Lucas Laser (Rally Prepared All-Wheel Drive) and Eric Genack (Rally Modified Four-Wheel Drive). Course designers Charles Wright and David Brooks are pulling out all the stops to ensure the event is truly Championship caliber. They’ll have plenty to work with, as the overflow parking area at Nashville Superspeedway is a very sturdy clay-over-limestone combination. The course is expected to hold up well throughout the weekend, but will get slick in a hurry should it rain. The Tennessee Region Chairman for the event, Randy Lee, will be doing his best to match the hospitality shown at last year’s Championship site, Motorsports Park Hastings, with his own Southern hospitality. Competitors will never be at a loss for entertainment, however, with the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame and Nashville Zoo nearby. The first round of runs for the 2008 RallyCross National Championship will begin at 9 a.m. (CDT), Oct. 25. The competition wraps up the following afternoon with an awards ceremony to take place on early Sunday evening. Visit the RallyCross National Championship event page for more information.
