51±¬ÁÏ® has an extraordinary connection with Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, located between Columbus and Cleveland. Legendary drivers in Formula 5000, Can-Am, and Trans Am all competed there under SCCA’s banner, and the venue was home to the SCCA National Championship Runoffs® for a long time.
The tradition continues May 16-18, 2025, as the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour (HST) Bravo Trailer rolls into Mid-Ohio once more for an experience hosted by SCCA’s Ohio Valley Region. The eighth of 10 HST events on this year’s schedule, Mid-Ohio’s 2.4-mile Club circuit with 15 turns will be in play over the three days.
The time is now to get registered for another legendary weekend at Mid-Ohio. Driver registration and Volunteer registration are being managed at separate webpages, links for which you’ll find below.
Buckeye State Gets the Best
Recently, Mid-Ohio’s Turn 4 got an extensive update to what is known as China Beach. Modifications were made to the runoff area, as well as replacement of safety barriers and fencing at three additional points. Drivers will have 25-minute qualifying sessions throughout Friday to figure things out and sort setups. Saturday morning then sees a few more 25-minute qualifying sessions before 25-minute races are held for all eight run groups.
Sunday? Well, there’s nothing but racing all day starting at 8 a.m. Eastern Time. Each of the eight run groups gets 35-minute or 20-lap races to decide who claims trophies and commemorative bottles of Mazza Vineyards sparkling wine after Sunoco race fuel and Hawk Brakes put them on the victory podium.
Super Touring® Under (STU) will be a match to watch at Mid-Ohio as reigning class National Champion Chip Herr makes his first 2025 HST appearance in the No. 17 Warwick Autopark/Carbotech/Hoosier/MCS/Roux Audi A4. David Fiorelli, STU’s reigning HST Nationwide Points Champion, will be there as well in the No. 190 Ford Mustang. We also can’t overlook Richard Astacio in the No. 80 Krugspeed Lotus Exige as he has claimed six HST victories already this year.
Herr will also make an appearance in the Touring 4 (T4) contest at Mid-Ohio. There, too, will be reigning T4 National Champion Alex Lozano for his first HST appearance of 2025 in the No. 98 Blueforce Healthcare/Hoosier/HR Racing/AMJ Racing Mazda RX-8. That field is where you’ll also find T4’s reigning HST Nationwide Points Champion, that being Marc Cefalo in the No. 00 Planet Miata Mazda MX-5.
Reigning Runoffs F Production (FP) Champion Mason Workman, who is also FP’s reigning HST Nationwide Points Champion, plans to be at Mid-Ohio as well. He competed earlier this year at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta HST weekend, where he finished second and fifth. He’ll be on the hunt for his first HST victory of 2025 driving the No. 52 Hoosier/Planet Miata/Carbotech Mazda Miata against a Toyota Paseo, Acura Integra, Volkswagen Jetta, and Honda CRXs.
Speaking of Production racing, Jesse Prather swept H Production (HP) victories only a few weeks back during HST’s stop at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma. The reigning HP National Champion will be at Mid-Ohio as he seeks to buoy his HST Nationwide Points Championship tally driving the No. 34 JPM/Sunoco/Carbotech/Hoosier/Amsoil Mazda 2. That Points Championship eluded Prather last year, and fellow HP competitors won’t likely make it easy for him in the Buckeye State.
