Like many of you, this weekend I will load up and head south for the SCCA Runoffs presented by Garmin VIRB. It will be my 23rd Runoffs and my second year helping out with the broadcast of the event. Last year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca I learned a lot, mostly that I need to learn more. There are so many stories, personalities and fun facts, it is a real challenge to find and present the best of what the Runoffs has to offer.
This year we are making an effort tell more stories with an evening recap at the end of each qualifying day. Jeff Lepper and I will stage ourselves at the worker party for 45 minutes of commentary, interviews, discussion on the day’s happenings, event lore, rumor and innuendo. It should be a lot of fun. But we want it to be more than just fun, we want to tell the real story and we need some help with both the stories that you are bringing to the Runoffs and those are created in Daytona.
Here is how you can help:
- Comment on this blog post, give me the quick and dirty
- Better yet, create your own post and get the whole story out there. You can do this by clicking your name in the upper right corner of SCCA.com (must be logged in), selecting “share” and “post to blog.” Don’t forget to use the tag “Runoffs” when you do it.
- Come to the worker party! In addition to being a great place to see friends and talk about the day yourself, you never know who we may pull up on stage- if you are there, it could be you.
I am really looking forward to this Runoffs. It is a huge honor to be tasked with telling your stories, and so I thank you all for any help you can give me in finding them.
